I believe that when I say I am a Mohawk of Kahnawake. I am a part of something greater than just Kahnawake. I am part of a Nation consisting of Nine maybe more territories scattered around Canada and the U.S.

I believe that no matter how shattered we are as a people, everyone from each and every Territory are equal. They are my people, my communities and part of my greater Nation. Regardless of how far we live or anything that might seem otherwise.

I believe that to call yourself a member of the Mohawk Nation or Haudenosaunee our people must realize we owe it to our Constitution. We owe great thanks in the blood our ancestors spilled to defend an idea, a concept and a part of our once collective.

I believe that in order to continue to call ourselves a people. In order to call ourselves Mohawk we must move forward using that constution. Regardless of how old it may seen, how dated it may be, the start of rebuilding must be from the oldest point of our existence. Thus, it will guide is into our future...

I believe that the fuel that will hold us together lies withing this law. It makes everyone equal. It gives all a voice which to be heard and a Nation to be proud of. It gives women the respect and power they deserve. It is the thing that will bind our existence and give us the respect we lack today.

I believe that if everyone had the same love for their country. If everyone had the same believe in their nation. If everyone had the same goal to be one Nation again. We would be the smallest most intellectually powerful Nation on earth. So why do we wait.

I believe there is a turning point in our history about to come. The crossroads in Iroquois History where our very existance will hang in the balance. Our slow abandon of our Traditional Laws and constitution cannot happen for ever. Everything must end, or be restored.

Just a thought...
