We are known as, Iroquois by the French and Mohawks by the English. We call ourselves, "Haudenosaunee" which means, "People of the Longhouse".

The first United Nations ever to be established upon democracy in North America was the great league of the Iroquois. The Great Spirit, our Creator, sent a spiritual message of peace through a profound leader and prophet who is known as the Peacemaker.

He brought the good tidings of Peace, Power and Righteousness to the Nobel Red man of this great continent where he found the "Home of the Brave and land fo the free." We call this sacred message, "Kainarekowa, The Great Law of Peace".

For many generations now, American and Canadian history has stereotyped and depicted Native Americans as cruel, savage, barbarious, uncivilized and warlike, however many aboriginal Indian people today have a different story to tell about their people and their way of life as they reveal the ancient traditions that guided their people to peace, prosperity, unity and harmony with creation of the world.

Their ancient philosophies, ceremonies, and thanksgiving rituals are based on the oral traditons of their Great forefathers which they have maintained among themselves for centuries untold up until the present time.

Important aspects of their culture depend on the preservation of their traditional form of government which is based upon the Great Law of Peace, traditional teachings, prophecy, the environment, language and lands for the future generations that are yet to come.

The Peacemakers Drum is a traditional Mohawk Indian organization known as the Tyendinaga Mohawk Singing Society. They are located on the Bay of Quinte at the present site of Deseronto, Ontario. The main objective of The Peacemakers Drum is to promote Indian Culture through spiritual and social activities that are related to traditional teachings of the Mohawk of the Iroquois Confederacy and interested multicultural oranizations and nationalities from around the world who would like to share and learn more about Native culture and its value's through cross cultural experiences,
