Pictures of Kahnawake
Tid Bits
The
pictures in here started out several years ago when someone asked me "Can
you show me what Kahnawake looks like" So I put some pictures I had
up on my server which at the time was at UMass.
I put the pictures up
for people to see, added tons of information. Realizing a few weeks
and tons of email later, people wanted to see more pictures.
Ever since, I have been taking
pictures of Kahnawake on occasion only for my website. When I get
a rush of energy to take new pictures I borrow my dads camera, buy some
BW film and go on a photo spree. All of which is not cheap.
Reasoning
There is also a reason
why I take sometimes random pictures of things. Why I take pictures
at the pow-wow and may never put a picture of any more dancers.
Why? I'm tired
of seeing people sucked into believing Iroquois people wear head dresses
and buck skins. I want the world to know that after the shows are
over, people wear Nike shoes denim jeans and drive cars.
I want people to know
that 99.2% of the year people dont even dress traditional. That,
half the time its a damn show for the tourists.
Why, because as all
humans on planet earth we are evolving as a people. We are every
changing beings and have not remained static people. We have come
along way in our history and we are still moving.
Future
The future of
this section remains a mystery to me. I really dont want to remove
the older pictures. But memory, webspace and money all have there
factors. So pieces of my site may one of these days be removed and
replaced with new pictures.
The content will
always remain something I have final say about. It will get every
bit more interesting I hope for people to see and enjoy. As I am
always conjuring up new and exciting ideas for pictures to add. All,
I need is the time and webspace to do it.
Though the future
of my site for the near future seems stable. What lies ahead who
knows? Maybe it will die like the other sites I've seen die over
the last 8 years. Silently deleted for another to take over....
