Mohawk - Let's Speak Mohawk
This beggining-level course in conversational Mohawk provides the pronounciation,
grammar, structures, andvocabulary needed to communicate in everyday situations.
The Mohawk used in the text is standard script. A pronounciation key is
given for eack Mohawk entry.
Unlike English which may have several words to describe, for example,
an article of colthing, Mohawk only uses one: the word at ya tawi refers
to anything that covers the upper part of the body. In English we could
use several nouns such as coat, shirt, dress or blouse. The Iroquoian culture
places little emphasis on objects or things.
